Who doesn’t love Belle Isle for an engagement session! When I spoke with Maya and John about possible locations, she really wanted Belle Isle. We started at the fountain and to our surprise, the fountain was on! For some reason it seemed to be half on but I will take it. It was great actually meeting Maya and John in person. They are friends with some of my former and future clients as well. I photographed Kristin and Ryan’s wedding in July of 2021 and this October I am flying to Vail, Colorado to photograph Kristi and Grahams wedding (Maya and John will be there!!!)
After the fountain, we jumped in my truck and headed over to the north side of the island to get photos with the Renaissance Center in the background. It’s a great area to get the Detroit skyline in the background. The next location is arguably the most iconic location on Belle Isle. The Belle Isle Conservatory (https://www.belleisleconservancy.org) just finished up some major updates! It is a beautiful structure and it looks so good in the photos. If you get a chance to go, do it. The Aquarium is americas oldest original aquarium! There are some other really cool locations for photos all around this same location. There is a group of greenhouses that are perfect for photos.
After the session was over, Maya and John took me out to lunch to chat and get to know each other some more. We went to Bobcat Bonnies in Ferndale. Check out their menu here: https://bobcatbonnies.com/contact_fern-v2-2022/ After spending some with with Maya and John I can truly say that they love each other! You can see it in the photos! I can’t wait for this August to celebrate with the bride and groom. After looking through all of the photos, comment which is your favorite and why?
I am John Richmond of John Richmond Photography. I have had the honor to photograph over 950 weddings in my 20 years as a professional wedding photographer. I love to photograph beautiful-souled people having the time of their lives.
