Morgan & Michael’s Sojourn Lakeside Wedding: A Day of Love, Laughter, and Family

This venue is a hidden gem in northern Michigan, surrounded by serene woods, crystal-clear water, and a sense of calm that makes every moment feel more magical. But what truly made this wedding so special was the people — and the love that brought them together.

I’ve known Morgan for years — she’s been a constant at our local high school as the athletic trainer, helping countless student-athletes, including my own son Joel, through football and track seasons. Her kindness, strength, and heart have always stood out, and it was such an honor to capture this chapter of her life as she married Michael, the love of her life.

From the start of the day, there was a sense of joy in the air. Morgan was radiant, surrounded by her closest friends and family, while Michael looked proud and ready as ever. Their love is quiet but strong — the kind you can feel without needing many words. And then there was their sweet son Mason, who absolutely stole the show. With his bright smile and happy energy, he brought light to every room and completely owned the dance floor later that night!

One of the most meaningful parts of the day for me personally was getting to work alongside my son Joel as my second shooter and assistant. Watching him step into the role with confidence, capturing his own moments and perspectives, was such a proud-parent moment. He’s truly growing into a talented photographer, and it meant the world to share this experience with him.

As the sun dipped low behind the trees and the evening light danced across the lake, the celebration only grew more beautiful. Laughter echoed across the resort, heartfelt toasts brought tears, and the dance floor stayed full well into the night. It was everything a wedding should be — a celebration of love, family, and the future.
