I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to this wedding for the entire year! Chandni and Matthew are genuinely in love, you can just see it when they look at each other. The weekend started on Thursday with the Henna ceremony, this symbolizes good health and prosperity in their marriage. I returned Friday morning for the Grah Shanti, a brief ceremony to remove all obstacles from the couple and to bring them happiness and prosperity. That evening I returned for the welcome dinner with all of their family and friends. Saturday was the big day…the 12 hour amazing wedding day! We did a first look and then headed to Detroit for photos. Started at the Dequinder Cut then a quick stop at Eastern Market. Finished up in Detroit and headed back to The Westin, Southfield to prepare for the Baraat. The Baraat is a processional that escorts the groom (traditionally on horseback, Matthew switched it up a bit and used his uncles Ford Mustang) to the site of the wedding. The Puja or ceremony is such a beautiful event to witness in person. It is performed to bestow good luck upon Chandni and Matthew and their families. I was honored to capture the love between the bride and groom.
